I'm so excited, happy and grateful this morning! I woke up to 900 sales in my Etsy shop! What a wonderful way to wake up on your birthday! :)

Halloween is just around the corner! I LOVE Halloween! I love all the spooky decorations that you can find these days! I've wanted to buy decorations for years, but every year I talk myself out of it, as an unnecessary expense. But I couldn't help myself this year! It was TIME!
We decided to throw a Halloween themed Birthday party for my son's 7th birthday. It was the excuse I needed! LOL After 37 years on this earth, I finally went out and bought some cool (and scary) decorations!
It was a fun, crazy hectic evening with about 17 kids running around our house! I will admit I think I have hit my limit of how many kids I can manage at a birthday party (which in hindsight is probably about 8!). We had some great friends to help us out for the evening as well. Thank you very much Karen & Johann! And thank goodness for the margarita my husband made me after the party! It was MUCH needed & appreciated!
I designed a few items for the party, such as the birthday banner, invitation, Welcome Sign, Trick or Treat sign and favor tags. Most of the other decor I purchased from Home Sense, Michael's and Dollarama. There are so many fun items to be found! Michael's had some awesome Halloween crafts at half price. And I purchased a couple of Halloween themed coloring pages on Etsy. Here are the links: https://www.etsy.com/listing/207309088/printable-personalized-jack-o-lantern?ref=shop_home_active_17
and this one as well: https://www.etsy.com/transaction/235215565
Here are some pics from the party. Hope you like them! :)
FREEBIE ALERT! Do you need a Halloween banner for your next party? Or a Trick or Treat sign for your front door? Here is a link to a few FREE printable designs! (For a limited time) For personal use only.
Enjoy! And if you do download the files, I would love to see what you do with them! You can send any pics to email@example.com.
Have a great week everyone!
Is everyone happy that school is back in session? I know I am loving it! :) The boys seem to enjoy being back at school as well. I'm sure that will change as they get older, but I'll take it! My older son just started grade 1. The homework is starting! So far so good though. He seems to want to do it, so I don't have to nag him. Wouldn't it be awesome if he kept that attitude all through school?? I can hope!
A client of mine sent me a TON of stunning photos of the Carnival themed birthday she threw for her adorable 1 year old daughter. I had to share! I only chose a few, because well there are just too many to post! I love it when clients take the time to send me pics. They are gorgeous photos! This party was impeccably styled! I love all the little details that went into making this party beautiful. It looks like such a fun party! All the photos were taken by Kristin Leigh Photography www.kristinleighphotography.com )
Thank you Carey for sharing your daughter's awesome birthday! :)
Hope everyone has a great week!
Summer is in full swing and I have to say that it has really been a great summer so far! We've had lots of sun! The boys are loving camp everyday & the trampoline we bought for my youngest son's birthday has been a great activity for all of us!
Don't miss out on this great deal! Have a look in my Etsy shop as well! If you don't see what you want here, head on over there and I will honor the coupon! The sale runs from today, until next Saturday, July 26th!
Hope everyone is having a fun summer! Enjoy all this beautiful, warm weather while you can! :)
The school year is at an end! Unbelievable how fast it went! My oldest son has finished Kindergarten, and my youngest has finished his first year of Preschool. I have not planned out my summer with my kiddos yet. I think I may go crazy! I have all the forms ready to fill out for various activities. I really need to fill in those forms! I've never been very good about planning out my time. I tend to do things at the last minute, which can become way more stressful than it needs to be. Though that said, I don't want to be so scheduled that I have no wiggle room. Everything is a balance, isn't it? Any plans for the summer? When do you plan your activities out for the summer? Some are so organized they have their plans locked down in March!
Etsy is my go to place for so many things, kid related and non-kid related! There are craft ideas, handmade toys, and costumes, party invitations and decorations and so much more! You can even find kits to help you get organized! I should really make one of those purchases! Etsy is a great source for finding fun, and useful items for kids! I've purchased many kids items on Etsy since I joined a few years ago.
There is a huge Etsy Team community as well, but one of my favourites is the Etsy Kids Team. Every shop who is a member of this team, makes and sells items for children. There are sooooo many great shops! Here are some of my faves! I'm sure you will find something for your kids that you cannot resist buying! ;)
Hope you enjoyed browsing these wonderful shop!
This past Sunday we held my youngest son's 3rd birthday party at our home. I love planning my kids birthday parties! I love coming up with a theme, designing the decorations, and deciding on a menu, not to mention the desserts. My hubby is very much involved as well. He is the chef and I'm his sous-chef. This works out well for us!
The party was super fun! The kids had a blast and the weather was gorgeous! The events of the day are a bit of a blur for me and my hubby, but the photos bring back some of the details. It was pretty chaotic! Thank goodness for sangria! :)
And today, it's cleanup time!
Here are the pics.
The kids had a great time and were SUPER tired by the end of the day! I however am still super exhausted! LOL I won't be showing any after-party pics!
Hope everyone has a great week!

I recently designed a Milkaholic themed baby shower for a client of mine, and she sent me photos of the party yesterday! I LOVE client pics!
The Milkaholic party pack is available in my Etsy shop. This particular party suite is more modern & classic, whereas the one I'm currently selling has a chalkboard background and more of a vintage vibe. If you are interested in this style, it is available as well, upon request.
Check out these awesome pics! Those desserts all look soooo yummy!

This suite is available in any color scheme that you wish. Please send me a message if you have any questions. :)
Today, I'm happy to bring you all a new interview with my Etsy friend Lizy Natal! She is the owner and creator of Purple Fairy Creations. She designs and makes gorgeous hair accessories, organizers & more! I have bought quite a few items from her shop already! If I had a little girl, all of my hair accessories would be from Lizy's shop!
How did you start out?
I started this shop in memory of my mom that passed away from breast cancer. My mom was a hardcore crafter, she was known for recycling and reusing everything that she found on her path. She taught me everything that I know and for that reason I started crafting and making my own items.
What inspires you?
I am mother of two wonderful girls (4 year old and 1 year old) and married to an amazing man. My inspirations of the items I sell come from my girls, having two princesses in the house makes it easy to be really creative.
What is your favorite part of your creative process?
My favorite part is the design process. Coming up with an idea is not as easy at it seems but when I do, it feels amazing.
Are there any people in particular that have helped or inspired your work?
My girls are what inspire me to do this work. Sometimes they will get a new outfit and no accessory to go with it. That is when I start to work on my creations.
Any favorite artists, or quotes that inspire you?

Today I am sharing a gorgeous party from one of my clients. She styled and photographed her son Ethan's first birthday. The photos of the party are beyond gorgeous. She's also a professional photographer.
She sent me the photos she took of the Vintage Circus coloring page that she purchased from me.
The decorations are awesome! Even their dog is dressed up. All the little details make these photos such a treat to look at. The cake looks delicious and the little gum ball machines are adorable! Check out her blog post! There are some really great party ideas.

Thanks for stopping by! If you are interested in a Vintage Circus or Carnival party, here is the link to my Circus Collection on Etsy:
I love custom orders as well, so if you have your own ideas in mind, I'm happy to accomodate!
Happy, happy Friday!!
It's a nice, sunny day here today! I'm so excited to see the tiniest bit of grass poking through the snow on our front lawn! This past winter seems longer than usual, though I'm sure it's just that I've had enough of the cold! Bring on the warmer weather!
Here are a few client pics I wanted to share! I designed a Minnie Mouse Birthday party pack for a friend of mine last summer. It is not for sale in my shop at the moment, but if you are interested, please send me an email. And the other pics are from a Vintage Circus party from a favorite client of mine! :)
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
Happy Friday everyone!
Here are a few treasuries that I'm honored to be included in, as well as a few of my collections. There are some beautiful items in these!
Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!
Please, please let it start to feel like Spring! I love a little fresh, white snow, but I am done at this point! The weather is supposed to warm up for us this weekend, so lets hope the trend continues!
In the spirit of warmer weather, I wanted to find some ideas for beautiful & bright Spring parties! Here are some of my favorite images.
Such beautiful ideas for Spring parties! I hope one or more may inspire you to have a party! :)
Friday is the day I give a shout out to some of my favorite shops! Today, I've chosen four items on Storenvy! Storenvy is another great marketplace for unique, fun and beautiful things!
And all these items are under $30! Great gift ideas!
Have an awesome weekend everyone!
It's rainy and grey over here and I need a little pick-me up! It's a Pinterest inspiration kind of day today! I need a little moment of fun!
My boys share a bedroom, and right now the decor is all over the place. There is no real theme anymore, and well they throw their stuff all over the place, so usually it looks like a bomb went off in there! Ugh... boys.... Anyway, I've been mulling over what I would like to do to their room. I want a room that they can grow into. I would like something fun, but not something they will grow out of in a year or two.
Here are some AWESOME images of boys rooms that I've pinned on Pinterest. Maybe the hubby and I can borrow some of these ideas & re-make their room into a space that they will LOVE!
I still haven't decided on a theme, but all these wonderful ideas gets my mind working! Hopefully I will be the exception to the "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" rule! :)
My youngest son's birthday is coming up in the next few months, so it is time to start planning! This year I'm thinking a Robot Birthday! He LOVES robots. There are soooo many awesome ideas online. These are my inspiration! :)
Love the robots made out of cardboard boxes and the colorful gears around the birthday banner.
This cake looks amazing! I don't think I'm ready to attempt to make that kind of cake! :)
Spaceships & Laser Beams has over 100 great ideas for Robot Parties! That is a lot of information to go through but I'm sure I will find some great ideas for my son's birthday!
I may have to try this.. though I don't think it will look that awesome!
I LOVE this little guy! He is the most adorable robot ever! I don't think I could bear to eat him though!
That should help get me started! Is anyone planning any Birthdays at the moment? Any favorite themes? I would love to hear from you!
I wanted to share my latest designs with you. These are newly listed in my shop. It's a small Pirate Party Pack, which includes the Invitation, Birthday Banner, Cupcake Toppers and Thank You Tags. I will be adding more items in the coming weeks, as I finish up more designs.
I have always loved the Pirate Party theme! I've watched every single Pirates of the Caribbean movie, multiple times. Though, Johnny Depp played a HUGE part in my loving those movies! Captain Jack Sparrow is AWESOME! So when a client contacted me and asked if I could design a new party pack for her two sons birthdays I jumped at the chance! Hope you like it! :) xox
I hope everyone had a nice weekend! I thought that the weather was slowly warming up over here. Saturday was pretty mild! I could feel Spring just around the corner. But then the cold came back on Sunday! BOO! Oh well, at least it's sunny!
I just have to say that I LOVE the Etsy community! Over the last year and a bit, I've had so much fun with my shop and met so many interesting people from all over the world! Not to mention purchased all kinds of cool items for myself, and as gifts for friends and loved ones.
I recently chatted with Krysthle Poitras. She runs a few different shops on Etsy. Krysthle designs beautiful jewelry; from feminine and shabby chic pieces, to more industrial / rocker chic type pieces. I have my eye on one of her necklace and earring combos. So cool! She also has a paper shop, where she sells greeting cards for all occasions. Check out the awesome 20% off discount code at the bottom of this page, for all my blog readers!
Val: How did you start out?
Krys: Well, I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. As a child, I took art classes to learn how to paint like the masters with oil paints. But I soon took on watercolors and pastels. In my late teens, I discovered acrylic paint, and it was amazing! I loved that it dried so fast. Eventually, my passion for art led me into mixed media artistry. This is where I discovered scrapbooking papers and a ton of new materials and textures that I could incorporate into my art, such as charms and beads. This is when I finally leapt into jewelry making.
I`m a very crafty person and have always enjoyed doing crafts. This is why I believe that my passion for art, be it painting or jewelry making has evolved in this way. But most if all, i love the thrill of discovering a new technique or craft and trying it out.
Val: What inspires you?
Krys: A lot of things inspire me. Nature, fashion, textures, just to name a few. But I mostly find that inspiration on Pinterest! You can find anything on that site, it`s addictive. You will notice that i have two styles, so lots of things inspire me, but in different ways. For one, I love everything shabby chic and feminine. Pastel colors, flowers, weddings, romance and vintage inspired are a few keywords that I would associate with my girly style. On the other hand, I also have a little bit of a funky/boho/rocker chic side to me. I love working with spike beads, metals, clean lines, contrasts, and industrial looking items.
Val: What is your favorite part of your creative process?
Krys: My favorite part of the creative process is shopping! Maybe I`m a shopaholic! LOL Retail-therapy is the best way to get into a good mood. When you see new finds, colors and trends in the products you are shopping, it always stimulates the imagination and get the ideas flowing! I guess I`m also a dreamer. I live in my head and can stay awake at night thinking of ideas for crafts to do the next day!

Val: Are there any people in particular that have helped or inspired your work?
Krys: For sure! I can`t thank enough my mother for supporting my artsy side when I was a child and my boyfriend who works hard all day so that I can buy beads! LOL Those are the main two that have helped. As for inspiration, I get everywhere! But i do have some favorite websites. I love checking out the Nunn Design Blog (www.nunndesign.com) for new techniques and ideas. They are a creative bunch! I also love checking out Websters Pages for scrapbooking supplies. They have the best stuff if you ask me!
Val: Any favorite artists, or quotes that inspire you?
Krys: Favorite artists? Yes a few. I love what Anie from Inspired Forest Art makes. Each one of her creations is so cute and whimsical! (www.etsy.com/shop/InspiredForestArt)
Thanks Krys for sharing your story with us!
Happy, Happy Friday all!
There are soooo many shops on Etsy that I absolutely adore! Here are a few I've recently discovered, and a favorite item from each. I love anything soft, sparkly, vintage and polkadots!
I don't know about you but I'm constantly on the hunt for cool ideas for different rooms in my house. I love looking at photos of interior spaces that I could maybe, possibly one day create for myself and my family. I find it super difficult to actually take the ideas and transform them into reality with two young boys at home. Every DIY project in our home seems to take an extra long time! LOL! I think that because it is our first house, we're afraid of making a mistake. I'm so in awe of parents who manage to take on these projects, and blog about them as well! Truly inspiring!
We are getting better though! Last year sometime we decided to start tackling the playroom. This is the room that houses the majority of our boys toys, video games, and the TV. We decided on going colorful! We have some orange, teal and green on the walls.. Sounds weird, but we like it. It's not as bright as it sounds. I had all these ideas for artwork on the walls, but so far they are pretty much bare. There is a huge window in that room which brings in a lot of light, and all around the window is a floor to ceiling built in medium brown stained bookcase that I'm dying to paint white. Of course in order to do that I will have to take off every single toy and tape all the edges of walls that come into contact with the shelves, give it a good sanding and finally get out the paint and brushes and get to it! I will do it! Hopefully sooner rather than later! I swear! ;)
Which brings me to these lovely images I found on Pinterest that will hopefully give me the kick in the behind that I need to get some sh*t done!
Those are my inspiration! I would love for my playroom to come together like these great spaces.
If you would like to see more playroom ideas, check out my "Playroom Ideas" board on Pinterest here: http://www.pinterest.com/val35/playroom-ideas/
Spring is apparently 7 days away and we are in the midst of a snowstorm! AWESOME... not so much. I'm very happy that I am now home for the rest of the evening and do not have to venture out into this mess! I hope everyone gets home safely!
I have a bunch of new designs in the works that I am super psyched about! I've been working on an "Under the Sea" party suite, as well as a new "Pirate" pack, a "Milkaholic" Baby Shower Suite and designs for a "Little Duckling" party! Love it!
One of my favorite parts about designing printables for kids parties is how excited the parents become when I send them the designs. It's such an awesomely gratifying feeling for me as an artist that people have such positive feedback about my work. The fact that my designs may help in making a child's (or adult's) birthday memorable is very cool as well!
I've gone through many years of low self-confidence as an artist, a woman, and as a mother. I guess most of us do at different points in our lives. It's such a complete waste of time. It stops us from doing the things we love and experiencing the world around us! But as I get older I feel stronger and less sensitive toward peoples negative remarks (and my own). I am choosing to see the positive in the life all around me! :)
These are by no means finished. They are just a glimpse into my studio at the moment. I would love to hear comments if anyone has any suggestions or any party themes they would like to see in my shop.
Bye for now! xox
